GOVERNMENT HOUSE,

HONGKONG. 30th January, 1920.

My Lord,

I have the honour to confirm my telegram

of the 28th January, 1920, stating that it is not proposed to extend the agreement of Mr. Leo Longinotto in the post of Assistant Crown Solicitor and requesting that a fully qualified Solicitor be appointed in his place.

2.

It has been found that Mr. Longinotto has

not the qualifications necessary for the Assistant Crow Solicitor who should be able to act as Crow Solicitor during

the absence of the holder of that post. Mr. Longinotto's

experience however, has hitherto comprised Court work alone and bis knowledge of conveyancing, the drawing up of agree- -ments and so forth is quite inadequate, while he has shown

little adaptability for ordinary office work.

3.

I should be glad if these necessary

qualifications may be borne in mind in making the new appoint-

-ment.

THE RIGHT HONOURABLE

VISCOUNT MILNER, G.C.B.,

I have the honour to be,

My Lord,

Your Lordship's most obedient,

humble sorvant,,
